Union College Master of Arts in Teaching
The Master of Arts in Teaching is a ten course program leading to both New
York State certification on and a Master’s degree. Union’s program combines
classes in pedagogy, linking theory to classroom practice and
post-baccalaureate study in the area of certification
Union’s M.A.T. leads to a Master’s degree and New York State certification.

The M.A.T. leads to provisional certification. Provisional certification
becomes permanent after two years of full-time teaching and successful
completion of all parts of the New York State Teacher Certification on
Examination No further coursework is required.
Core program for Those with a Master’s Degree or those who already have a
masters degree in their field. Union offers a CORE program which includes 5
courses in pedagogy. connecting theory to effective classroom practice Those
taking the ORE program enroll in the intensive e teaching laboratory (2 courses)
and one seminar each term. The internship in public schools can be completed on
half-day, full-year or a full-day, half-year basis.

- Minimum of 30 hours of coursework in the area of certification
- 3 letters of recommendation
